Marvin Earl Swanger, age 73, passed away on Feb. 23, 2024. Born on Sept. 17, 1950, in Morgantown, Marvin returned to his roots, taking his last breath in the same beloved town.
Marvin’s life was a tapestry of close-knit family ties and a heartfelt dedication to the great outdoors. After saying a mournful goodbye to his wife, Shirley Ann King Swanger, he continued to nurture his cherished relationships with his siblings: Marlene Swanger of Richmond, Va.; Melanie Zinn and her husband Dave of Morgantown; his brothers, Marshall Swanger of Morgantown; Melvin Swanger and his wife Patsy of Johnson City, Tenn.; and Maverick Swanger and his partner Donna Girod of Morgantown. He was also a proud uncle to many loving nieces and nephews who will miss his adventurous spirit.
Marvin was a man who believed in hard work, exemplified through his years of service as an equipment operator for the Department of Highways. His passion for adventure extended to his personal life where hunting, fishing, camping, meticulously washing his car, and mowing his lawn brought him immense joy.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Mon Health Medical Center and Sundale Nursing Home for their loving care and attention provided to Marvin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Lewy Body Dementia Association at www.lbda.org/donate
