John Moon, Jr.

John Moon, Jr., 73, of Masontown, passed away Saturday morning, Feb. 24, 2024, at his residence following complications from pneumonia.

Born Feb. 15, 1951, in Uniontown, Pa., John was a son of the late John Moon, Sr. and Viola Ship Moon.
For 37 years, John worked as a coal miner, lastly for Cumberland Coal. He enjoyed golfing and painting pictures.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia Hawkinberry Moon, whom he married June 16, 1973; three children, Tina Moon Tasker and her husband Brian of Masontown, John Moon, III, and wife Michelle of Grafton, and Brian Moon of Masontown; six grandchildren, Dakota Tasker and wife Alex, Emily Moon Fischer and husband Nick, Madison Moon Alderson and husband Ben, Branson Tasker, Allison Moon and fiancé Colton Bolyard, and Kella Moon and her companion Robby Moncrief; two great-grandchildren, Olivia Fischer who he referred to as “Giggles,” and Caroline Tasker, who John called “Cutie Pie”; his siblings, Tammy Moon Yoney and husband Bob of Waynesburg, Pa., Sue Moon Fowler and husband Tom of Jefferson, Pa., Candy Moon Oxenrider and husband Dirk of Upper St. Clair, Pa., and Rose Moon Sroka of Waynesburg, Pa.; as well as several nieces and nephews; and his cherished furbabies, Delilah
and Rico.

Per his request, no formal services will be held and John will be cremated. John was also proud to be an organ donor so that he may give the gift of life to others.
