Beverly Burton

Beverly Lou “Bev” Burton of Morgantown passed away on Saturday, Feb. 17, 2024, after a short illness.

She was known to her friends as the bridge playing queen of Morgantown. She just missed her 97th birthday by six days, but if you count her 24 leap years, she made it easily.

During her working years she was on the staff of the Plant Sciences division of the WVU Agricultural College.

Bev was a very special person with a heart of gold and a personality that defied age.

She was born in Parkersburg to the late Harry Poole and Ola Pearl Louden (Sams).

She was preceded in death by her two sisters and two brothers, as well as sons, David and Douglas.

She is survived by her sons, Don (Toni), Dann, Dean (Debbie) and Darren (Paula — deceased); her grandchildren, Alyssa (Chris) LeButt, Zachary (Jen), Morgan (Hunter) Fitzgerald, Caroline, and Drew, who miss her terribly; as do her great-grandchildren, Sydney, Johnathon, Wesley, Camden, and Nicholas.

The family would like to thank WVU Hospice for their help and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to your favorite charity in her name.

Hastings Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements which have not yet been made.
