James Stichweh

James H. Stichweh, passed away on Jan. 3, 2024, at the age of 85, after spending 25 years in Peachtree City, Ga. He was the son of the late Elmer A. L. Stichweh and Martha L. (Walther) born on May 29, 1938, in New York.
He attended the University of Louisville where he graduated in 1958 with a degree in physics, 4 years of ROTC and was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1961. When James retired as an electrical engineer, he volunteered at the University of Georgia Fayette County Extension Office. He faithfully served as an elder at the Presbyterian Church. He loved to travel, was an avid reader, coin collector, and master gardener. He had an ongoing interest in clocks, nature, and old books, as well as keeping up with current events.
James is survived by his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Ann Stichweh (Acton); daughter, Karen L. Davis of Morgantown; sons, Alan H. Stichweh of Madison, Ind., and Ryan L. Stichweh (Rebecca Dougan) of Morgantown; four grandchildren, Colton, Wesley, and Shelby Davis and Grace Stichweh, all of Morgantown; and brothers, Robert E. Stichweh (Pat) of Amelia Island, Fla., and Lawrence A. Stichweh (Barbara) of Homer Glen, Ill.
Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation at Wesley United Methodist Church, 503 N. High St., at 10 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 10, with the funeral to follow at 11 a.m. with Rev. Martha Ognibene officiating. Rite of Committal and burial will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery, 1291 Dorsey Ave., Morgantown, with Rev. Fr. John P. McDonough officiating.
