Scott’s Run Settlement House is calling all Swifties to join in from 6-10 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 7, for a Taylor Swift-themed fundraiser at Cosmo Lounge and Restaurant in Suncrest Towne Centre.
The event will have entertainment from DJ EESH with WVAQ’s Just Jaime as emcee for the evening. The night will include Taylor Swift-themed fundraising activities like a lip sync battle and best dressed contests, friendship bracelets and a silent auction.
A $75 ticket includes admission, food and soft drinks, a themed photobooth, entertainment throughout the evening, and the chance to celebrate, socialize and shake it off – all for a great cause.
“We are excited to host our first fundraising event of 2024 and hope all the Swifties and their pals come out to celebrate and shake it off. We have put together an incredibly fun evening with a singular goal in mind – to raise funds to support the activities of Scott’s Run Settlement House,” said Andrea Husson, communications and development committee co-chair.
While Taylor’s music has been around for nearly two decades, Scott’s Run Settlement House has been through all the eras, serving the Monongalia County area for over a century.
Located in Osage, the organization provides services for those in Monongalia County finding themselves in economic hardship. Scott’s Run tries to address the root cause community members need help, and then create a customized approach for each need.
The agency provides a variety of programs, including a food pantry, a backpack feeding program, senior food boxes, various seasonal outreach programs and a free farmer’s market weekly.
In 2023 alone, the organization served 12,521 individuals through the food pantry and 5,535 senior citizens with the Senior Box program.
They also delivered 3,000 food packs to schools monthly through the Weekend Backpack Feeding program and provided 242 backpacks of school supplies for kids going back to school.
“Scott’s Run Settlement House continues to see a rise in numbers throughout every program we provide,” said assistant director Devon McDaniel. “Our food pantry is serving nearly 1,500 individuals a month, we are distributing 900 weekend food bags a week to schools in Monongalia County, while also growing all our seasonal outreach programs.
“We invite you to join us for an evening full of fun, entertainment and food, all while supporting a great cause,” McDaniel said.
All of the proceeds from the Taylor Swift fundraiser will directly benefit the clients served through the organization, including the food pantry, seasonal programs and school programs.
Tickets for the event can be purchased from the Scott’s Run website srsh.org or by phone at 304-599-5020. Those who can’t attend are encouraged to consider submitting a donation to Scott’s Run in honor of a loved one or on behalf of your organization or family.
“Any support of the event will help us further our reach and impact, especially as we continue to see an increased need throughout the Mon County region,” Husson said. “It feels like the perfect night to dress up like hipsters, your favorite Eras Taylor, or any theme-appropriate look you can pull together. We hope this event will be beyond your wildest dreams. Are you ready for it?”
