Robert G. Pilon, 91, of Mapletown, Pa., passed away peacefully Thursday, Jan. 25, 2024, at his home with his family at his side. Born Oct. 1, 1932, in Tupper Lake, New York, he was a son of the late Clarence and Florence (Amell) Pilon.
He honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, where he was trained as a paratrooper and airplane pilot. Robert retired in 1992 as a superintendent for Shannopin Mining Company. He was a member of the V.F.W. Post 747 in Point Marion, and the American Legion, Post 400 in Carmichaels.
Surviving is his wife, Carolee (Denis) Pilon; his four children, Robert Pilon, Jr. (Diane) and Cynthia St. Louis, all of Morgantown, Richard Pilon of Carmichaels, and Susan Norman of Dilliner, her three children, Cynthia Lancaster and Denis John Norman, both of Brandon, Fla., and Robert Norman (Lisa) of Spring Hill, Fla.,; a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and a brother, Raymond Pilon of Hamburg, New York.
His first wife, Theresa (Reandeau) Pilon passed away in 1993. Also deceased is a brother, Clarence Pilon; a sister, Dorothy Denis; and a step-daughter, Carol Sue Hernandez.
The family will receive friends in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 30, and Wednesday, Jan. 31, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. hour of Blessing Service with Fr. Frances Frasier officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will follow in Monongahela Hill Cemetery, Greensboro.
