MORGANTOWN – Here is a sampling of bills introduced Wednesday, Jan. 24. Local sponsors and cosponsors are noted.

  • SB 529, to include Salem University in the PROMISE Scholarship program.
  • SB 530, to remove the requirement for a county to draft and adopt comprehensive zoning ordinances.
  • SB 531, to allow charter schools to charge Hope Scholarship students for classes that students enroll in at the charter school.
  • SB 532, the Orphan Oil and Gas Well Prevention Act of 2024, to prevent oil and gas wells form being orphaned on surface owner’s land with no responsible driller or operator with the resources to plug the well. Sen. Randy Smith, R-Tucker, lead sponsor; Sen. Mike Caputo, D-Marion, co-sponsor.
  • HB 5058, to provide a process by which a city may hold an election to recall an ordinance.
  • HB 5060, to allow partisan elections for county board of education members.
  • HB 5066, to prohibit electric bicycles, or “e-bikes,” for hunting use in this state.
