Lowell Thomas Larew, 80, of Marquess Road, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2024, at his residence with family by his side. He was born on Feb. 26, 1943, in Evansville, the son of the late Garner Edwin and Dorothy (Stone) Larew.
Lowell owned and operated BB&T Auto Crushers, Larew Auto Wrecking and Used Cars, Lost Creek Savage, L and M Recycling and several other companies. Lowell’s life was his business, and it was the main conversation most of the time. He loved playing rummy, watching western and his four-legged Sophie. He was a member of the Message of Freedom Church in Grafton.
Lowell is survived by his wife, of 52 years, Marge Jean Culberson Larew; three sons, Thomas Lynn Larew and Rhonda of Augusta, William “Bill” David Larew and Dawn of Thornton, Lowell Jeremy Larew and Mandy of Morgantown; one daughter, Beverly Ann Larew and Eddie of Newburg; 11 grandchildren, Jessica and Justin Decewicz, Jacklyn “Jackie” Annon and Stanley, Dakota Cline, Dakota Larew and Joanna, Justin Larew and Morgan, Emily Burns and Zack, Stephanie Plum and Derek, Brittney Ringer and Damian, Hudson Larew, Corey Watkins and Courtney, Zach Watkins and Brittany; and several great-grandchildren; one brother, Larry Larew; a sister, Barbara Larew Austin; one sister-in-law, Lalah Wolfe Larew; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death three sons, Lowell Thomas Larew Jr., Gregory Brian Larew and Eric Joshua Larew; one sister, Wilda Larew Bailey; one brother, Carl Wayne Larew Sr.
Family and friends will be received at the Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown St., Newburg, from noon-6 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 13, and on Sunday, Jan. 14, at Message of Freedom Church, Rt 50, Grafton, from 1 p.m. to time of service at 2 p.m. with Pastor Mike Stottlemyer officiating. Interment will follow at Mount Zion Cemetery in Moatsville.
