James M. “Mick” Madison, 79, passed away on Jan. 2, 2024, from complications of dementia.
Born Feb. 1, 1944, in Lafayette, Ind., he was the only child of the late Homer Dale and Beatrice Jackson Madison.
He was graduated from West Virginia University and was self-employed. His career spanned several occupations, including proprietor of The Surplus Store in Morgantown, a sheep farmer, an electrician and home remodeling contractor. He had equally diverse hobbies, including training pigeons, nurturing tropical plants and orchids, and raising rabbits and chickens.
He is survived by his wife, Beth Madison; his son, Jacob Madison; his daughter, Elizabeth and son-in-law Rob Felter; as well as his grandchildren, Robert and Eleanor Felter.
A memorial service will be held privately in summer 2024. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Morgantown to support its weekly pancake breakfast or Pantry Plus More located in Morgantown.
