Something sweet coming to former Slight Indulgence building

Suncrest is getting a sweet surprise in early 2024. The Cupcakerie, which has been serving up stunning cupcakes and other pastries in downtown Morgantown for over a decade, will shift to a new location on Collins Ferry Road in February.

The bakery will take over the space that housed the gourmet food and wine shop Slight Indulgence, which closed on Dec. 29 due to the owners’ retirement. The move will enable The Cupcakerie to expand and rebrand as The Cupcakerie Cafe & Frosé. For the uninitiated, “frosé” is a portmanteau of the words “frozen” and “rosé.” Basically, it is a scrumptious slushy made from frozen wine and different flavors of fruit puree.

There will be even more exciting additions to the menu beyond decadent drinks. In an Instagram reel posted Dec. 22, owner Anna Carrier said, “The Cupcakerie will be moving out of downtown and will be bringing cupcakes, but will continue to do what Slight Indulgence has done for 40 years now: serving all of our clients and customers with cupcakes, wine, your favorite gift baskets and chocolates and other pastries, as well as really good food.”

The Cupcakerie’s downtown location is now closed to walk-in customers as the team prepares for the big move. However, they will continue to fulfill online and phone orders until the reopening in February. I hope to see more Instagram updates (https://www.instagram.com/thecupcakeriecafefrose/) on the revamped space and menu as The Cupcakerie blends with Slight Indulgence over the next few months to become Morgantown’s newest delicious destination.
