Irene Martin Keener, 73, of Point Marion, Pa., passed away Saturday, Dec. 30, 2023, at the Morgantown Health and Rehab Center, following a yearlong battle with cancer. Born in Uniontown, Pa. on Sept. 1, 1950, she was a daughter of Beatrice Ellen (Rankin) Martin of Martin, Pa., and the late Michael Martin.
A 1969 graduate of Albert Gallatin High School, she retired from the Mon Health Medical Center where she was a Unit Clerk for many years, and later a Patient Sitter. Always the life of a party and always with a smile on her face, Irene loved listening to local dance bands, and traveling with her friends.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by two sisters, Sue Ann Malinsky and Michele Neino, both of Masontown; two nephews, Michael Malinsky and Dominic Neino; and two nieces, Cara Neino and Janet Malinsky and their families; and many friends and former co-workers. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Friends will be received in the Richard R. Herod Funeral Home, Point Marion, from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 3, and Thursday, Jan. 4, from 10-11 a.m., the hour of service. Interment follows in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Leckrone.
