Forrest Boyce

Forrest Vernon Boyce, 94, of Morgantown, passed away Dec. 30, 2023, battling dementia at Morgantown Health and Rehabilitation Center, with family at his side.

Forrest was born Aug. 5, 1929, in Connellsville, Pa., son of the late Forrest L. Boyce and Nora (O’Neal) Fuller.

Forrest worked many jobs throughout his young adulthood and settled as a Coal miner by trade with Consolidation Coal Company retiring in 1993. His neighbors referred to him as Mr. Fixit because of his personal skills and experience as a, mechanic, electrician, welder, masonry, and carpenter. He enjoyed playing guitar, dancing, singing, playing pool, NASCAR races, watching WWF wrestling and spending time with family. He was also a lifetime member of the Independent Hunting Club.

He is survived by his four children, Donna Carter and her husband John, Pam Youst and her husband Ken, Kenny Boyce and his wife Kim, Melisa Baker and her husband, Doug; 12 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Gladys Collins, Mary Paugh, and Harold Boyce.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, of 58 years Juanita (Nicklow) Boyce, who passed away in 2007; daughters, Barbara Skidmore and Jan King; son-in-law, Ward Skidmore; grandson, Nathan Youst; and several siblings.

Family and friends will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., from 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 4, until the time of the service at 1 p.m. with Pastor John Sommers officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
