David Allen Lemley, 86, of Mount Morris, Pa., passed away on Monday afternoon, Dec. 25, 2023, at at Mon Health Medical Center in Morgantown.
David was born on Nov. 17, 1937, in Mount Morris, Pa., at home, a son of the late Frederick and Hazel Donley Lemley.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Rebecca Harvey Lemley, whom he married June 8, 1968; his two sons, John David Lemley and his wife Stephanie of Morgantown, and their children, Kathryn and Ryan Lemley, and Joseph Patrick Lemley and his fiancé Michelle Miller, of Whitely Township, Pa., and his children, Jaxon, Maddoc and Kaden; his brother, Donald Lemley of Mount Morris, Pa.; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Carrie Lee Furman, Ailene Kennedy, James Lemley, Jack Lemley, Robert Lemley and Walter Lemley.
Mr. Lemley was a 1955 graduate of the former Mount Morris High School, a 1959 graduate of California State Teacher’s College, and received his two masters degrees from West Virginia University in education and english. He was a Certified School Administrator. He was a teacher at Mount Morris and Waynesburg Central High School, where he was also a School Administrator in a career spanning 37 years.
Above all, David was a loving husband and father, a devoted and cherished grandfather, and loving brother. Spending time with his grandchildren was of paramount importance to him, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
David’s family has elected to honor his life and legacy with a celebration of his life at a later date. He will be laid to rest at Cedar Grove Cemetery.
