Like many people, mother and daughter Jeanne Brewer and Jaclyn Weese found creative outlets in their kitchens during COVID-19 lockdowns.
After countless hours of baking together via video call, they emerged from the pandemic with sharp skills, refined recipes and a taste for more. Together, they opened Good Fellows Baking Co. in September.
The bakery found a home at 55 Don Knotts Blvd. and is open 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays.
Pastries, cakes and other sweet baked goods are the bread and butter of any bakery. Delicious treats are baked fresh daily onsite at Good Fellows, and they also accept orders for special occasions through the website (goodfellowsbaking.com).
Their elaborately decorated cakes and cupcakes would make a vibrant addition to any milestone party. Also on offer is a “dessert board.” Instead of the assortment of meats and cheeses found on a charcuterie board, this board is laden with tarts, cakes, brownies and more.
Good Fellows is more than just photogenic goodies. The menu also features simple yet hearty breakfast and lunch fare like biscuits and gravy, soup and sandwiches (on handmade bread, of course). The interior of the shop, with trendy paint colors, metallic accents and beautiful wood furnishings, invites patrons to stay a while to truly enjoy their food.
For those who want to provide handmade tastes at holiday parties, Good Fellows has a menu of breads and desserts that can be ordered for seasonal gatherings. Ciabatta loaves, dinner rolls and peanut butter pie are sure to please, as are cookie decorating kits complete with icing and sprinkles. Christmas pre-orders must be placed by Thursday.
