Jerry Duane Hughes, 58, of Maidsville, passed away on Friday, Dec. 15, 2023, at his residence.
Jerry was born July 2, 1965, in Morgantown, to parents Mary Catherine Holbert-Hughes, who survives him at home, and the late Reul Duane Hughes.
In addition to his mother, Jerry is survived by a brother, Tim Hughes and wife Deb; sisters, Cathy Cobb and husband Gale, and Chrissy Hughes; nephews, Logan and Keith Cobb; nieces, Heather Giles and husband Ryan, Hannah Hughes, Elizabeth Cobb, Aubrie Cobb, and Isabella Cobb; and two great-nieces, Meckenna McMillen-Cobb and Raylin Riggleman.
In addition to his father, Jerry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Rual Oscar Hughes, Edna Hughes, Cecil Holbert and Evelyn Holbert.
Jerry worked for Roush’s Motor Sales in Mount Morris, Pa., for several years. He also worked as a machinist at Tarantini’s in Westover before its closing. Jerry was a big NASCAR fan and always watches races. He enjoyed cooking, and was talented enough that his family always told him that he was in the wrong profession. Everyone loved his sweet tea.
At Jerry’s request, a celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
