Victor Propst

Victor “Vic” Charles Propst, 73, of Morgantown, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 13, 2023 at his home.
He was born Jan. 7, 1950, in Granville, a son of the late Elmer Charles and Suzy Elizabeth (Shaffer) Propst.
Vic served Monongalia County as a police officer for over 38 years — as a member of the Star City, Monongalia County, WVU and Granville police departments. He was a bright man with a wonderful sense of humor. He will be remembered for being a helpful, caring and positive person and a devoted father and husband.
Vic especially enjoyed the peacefulness of life and watching WVU athletics.
Vic is survived by his wife of 36 years, Emma Jean Propst; daughter, Lizzie Propst; sisters, Kim Propst and JoAnn Wyatt (Jimmy); and nieces and nephew, Jessica Roberts, Caitland Farley, Carri Zeigler, Jennifer Weekly and Austin Weekly. He is also survived by Jean’s extended family, including special sisters-in-law, Maxine Dawson and Jenny Powell and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He also leaves behind his special canine friends, Leo and Lincoln; and cats Arliss, Marceline and Gravy.
Friends and family will be received at the WVU Alumni Center, 1 Alumni Drive, Morgantown, on Tuesday, Dec. 19 from 2-4 p.m., the time of the funeral service with Pastor Rich Schimansky officiating.
Following the service, cremation arrangements will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Granville Police Department, 1245 Main St., Granville, WV 26534.
