Kitty Hill

Kitty Lou (Markwood) Hill, 89, passed in peace, or “flew out the window” as she would say, on Monday, Dec. 11, 2023, in Kingwood, Preston Memorial Hospital. Kitty was born on May 7, 1934, to Willard E. (Wilhelm) Markwood and John W. Markwood Sr. of Terra Alta. Kitty is proceeded in death by her younger brother, John W. Markwood Jr., and her late husband, Harry (Jack) Harrison Hill.

In 1953, as a young 19-year-old, Kitty married her High School “sweetheart”, Jack Hill, in Terra Alta. She was a bookkeeper for her family’s business and a loving wife, mom, grandma, and friend.

Kitty was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church. She loved golfing, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends. She was the happiest playing the card game five hundred and singing and dancing with her Florida girls. Kitty was admired for her clean housekeeping skills and anyone who knew her can attest to this. We also think it is appropriate that you should know that she could not pronounce the words “oil” or “foil” properly.

Survivors include her children, Vickie and Jack Jenkins, and Mark and Stephanie Hill; grandchildren, Nicole Wolfe, Natalie and Dustin Barnes, and Craig and Shelley Hill; great-grandchildren, Jagger Barnes, Rowen Wolfe, Addisyn Barnes, Bristol Barnes, Ryder Hill, and Reylan Hill; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Friends are invited to a time of gathering at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 South Price St., Kingwood, from 2-6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, and on Saturday, Dec. 16, from 10 a.m. until the funeral hour. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at the funeral home with Pastor Jonathan Nettles officiating. Interment will follow at Terra Alta Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Wesley United Methodist Church, 107 W. High St., Kingwood, WV 26537.
