Vernie Galusky

Vernie Galusky, passed away on Dec. 8, 2023, at the age of 76, in Morgantown. Born to John and Dorothy Frazier Morrison on Dec. 15, 1946, Vernie’s life was marked by adventure, faith, and an unwavering commitment to her loved ones.

Vernie’s legacy is carried on by her adoring husband and best friend of 60 years, Charles Galusky, who stood by her side through every escapade and challenge. Their bond was a testament to enduring love and partnership. She was a loving mother to her children, Charles “Eddie” (Kim) Galusky and Sherry (Tim) McCord, a sister to Janet Richards, and sister-in-law, Debra James. She was a grandmother to Billy White, Amber Galusky, Justin (Heather) McCord, and Stephanie (Zach) Watts, and a great-grandmother to Taylor and Eli Estlack, Alexia Galusky, Jonah McMillen, Madden, Miles, and Lincoln Watts, Palmer and Scarlett McCord, and Mia and Sophia White. She is also survived by special niece Denise “the nurse”.

Preceding her in death were her parents, John and Dorothy; brothers, Eddie and Johnny Morrison, Jr.; sisters, Martha Dawson and Dianne Morrison; and granddaughter, Alivia Watts.

Vernie embraced her professional life with the same passion she had for her hobbies. Her career as a nurse’s aide transporter at Mon General Hospital was distinguished by her dedication to patient care, and her handle “red bird” on the CB radio mirrored her vibrant personality.

Well-known for her adventurous spirit, Vernie found joy in go-carting and boating, and was an enthusiast of music, playing the bass. Annual trips to Dollywood were among her cherished traditions. Always eager and ready, Vernie was up for anything and everything. Whether assisting her husband with vehicle repairs or setting out on their next journey, she was a constant source of fun and support.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 11, and again on Tuesday, Dec. 12, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Ray Fluharty officiating. Vernie will be laid to rest at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
