Eva Walker

Eva DeVincent Walker, 101, of Morgantown, passed away in her home surrounded by her loving family on Dec. 4, 2023. She was born July 27, 1922, in Morgantown. She was the daughter of the late James DeVincent and Gaetana Pisegna DeVincent, and the granddaughter of the late Gennaro and Filomena Pisegna.
She was preceded in death by siblings Frank DeVincent, Thelma Bucca, and Melba Gerhards. Her loving and devoted husband, Herman V. Walker, also predeceased her on March 19, 2011.

She is survived by her son, James Walker and spouse, Marsha, of Scott Depot; her daughter, Donna Privett, of Herminie, Pa., and her son, Michael Walker and spouse, Mary, of Morgantown, who cared for her over the last 10 years. She is also survived by grandchildren Jennifer White and spouse, Brian, and their children, Ethan, Hudson, and Cohen of Barboursville; John Petroff and spouse, Trista, and their son, Jackson, of Harts; Anthony Walker of Scott Depot; Alicia Shepherd and spouse, Billy, of Scott Depot; Zoey Workman of Madison; Teresa Tillson of Herminie, Pa., and her daughter, Amanda Luzader, of Fairview; Crystal Dalton and spouse, Adam, and their children, Camden and Knox, of Morgantown; Amber Ziese and spouse, James, and their children, Vanessa and Landon, of Crescent, Pa.; and Nicole Walker of Morgantown. Eva is also survived by many nieces and nephews, including a very special niece, Mary Joy Bucca, of St. Petersburg, Fla.

Eva graduated from Morgantown High School in 1940. During World War II, she worked for the Navy Department in Washington, D.C. She also worked for Heyden Chemical Company, Morgan Shirt Factory, Sterling Faucet Company, and Davis and Lynch Glass Factory. Herman and Eva volunteered at the Presbyterian Church soup kitchen on North Spruce Street in Morgantown for over ten years.

Eva was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who helped raise and care for many children in her home. She was a fun-loving, sassy, and caring woman who never met a stranger, and she will be greatly missed by all who love her.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 7, and on Friday, Dec. 8 from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Craig Faulkenstine officiating. Family committal service will be held at East Oak Grove Cemetery where she will be laid to rest alongside her loving husband.
