Charles “Charlie” Riggie, 75, of Westover, went to be with the Lord on Nov. 18, 2023, in Morgantown.
Charlie was born in Morgantown on March 21, 1948, a son of Salvadore and Cindy (Simonetti) Riggie.
Charlie was a 1967 graduate of Morgantown High School. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served during the Vietnam war. He was honorably discharged in 1971. He was an incredibly proud veteran. Charlie was employed as a machinist at Superior Hydraulics. He later worked at WVU as a trade worker and construction inspector. He retired from WVU in 2010.
A loving husband, father and granddaddy, Charlie enjoyed working on old cars, fixing up houses, and spending time with his family. He loved to work and help people. If the family needed a project done, they could rely on him to help get it done.
Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Patricia Riggie; two daughters, Yvonne Riggie (Dessa Augsburger) of Columbus, Ohio, and Jennifer Ottley (Jonathan) of Plain City, Ohio. He also leaves behind two grandchildren, Gabrielle and Nathaniel Ottley. He is also survived by his brother, Samuel (Jeanie) Riggie of Perry, Ohio; and two sisters, Patricia Speicher of Morgantown and Cindy Riggie of Morgantown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his twin brother, Henry Riggie, and brother-in-law, Larry Speicher.
The family would like to thank the medical and nursing staff at WVU Hospitals.
