Barbara Jean Germain Lewis, 80, of Morgantown, passed away on Monday, Oct. 23, 2023.
She was born to parents Emile L. Germain and Margaret K. Germain on Nov. 1, 1942, in Oakland, Md.
She graduated from Southern Garrett High School in Oakland, Md. She went on to study at the West Virginia Business College in Morgantown.
Barbara worked as a Secretary and Security Guard for 24 years at Mon General Hospital. Prior to that, she was a stay-at-home mother to her two sons.
After 24 years of service, She retired from Mon General Hospital in 2007.
She enjoyed spending time with her many cats and dogs and was particularly fond of German Shepherds. She loved tending her small garden and was an avid fan of WVU football and basketball. She was a devoted friend, daughter, and mother.
Barbara is survived by her son, Jason T. Lewis of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, his wife, Theresa Lewis; granddaughter, Vaughan Lewis; and great-grandson Zayden Lewis; her son, Justin G. Lewis of Morgantown; her sister, Mary Germain of Oakland, Md.; four nephews and their children; and her cat, Lizzie, and dog, Dru.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Emile L. Germain and Margaret K. Germain; her brother, Joseph Germain.
Friends may join the family to honor Barbara’s life and legacy at Smith Funeral & Cremation Care, 108 Holland Ave., Westover/Morgantown, from noon on Wednesday, Nov. 1, until the time of the memorial service at 1 p.m. Inurnment will take place at Nicholson Chapel Cemetery.
