Joan Malcolm

Joan Elaine “Tootsie” Malcolm, 92, of Masontown, went to heaven to be with Jesus and to reunite with her husband, Joseph Malcolm Sr., on Monday, Oct. 23, 2023, at the Hospice of the Panhandle in Kearneysville.

She was born in Newburg, on March 27, 1931, a daughter of the late Earl and Ella Elizabeth (Weaver) Pyles.

Elaine loved to make wedding cakes, birthday cakes, and wedding dresses. She made majorette uniforms too. Elaine was in Mary Kay Cosmetics for 50 years as a consultant/director. She won three cars including a pink regal, of which she was the proudest. She loved making women beautiful. Elaine was a member of the Masontown Methodist Church where she loved being a teacher of small children and pulling taffy with the youth group. She loved baking cakes and bragging that she carried those cakes in the trunk of her car and that they always made it there safely.

Elaine was a wonderful mother, grandmother, and friend to anyone that would talk to her.

Elaine is leaving behind two daughters, Joyce Ann Ennis and husband, Richard, and Brenda Wujcik; two sons, Joseph Malcolm Jr. and wife, Robin, and Brian Malcolm and wife, Simmy; 13 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Elaine was preceded in death by a son, Eric Dean Malcolm; granddaughter, Megan Goines; sisters, Norma Riley and Vesta Gordon; twin sister, Jean Loraine Pyles; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Estella Malcolm.

Friends and family will be received at the Field Funeral Home in Masontown on Friday, Oct. 27, from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Field Funeral Home with Pastor Sam Moon officiating. Interment will follow in the Masontown Cemetery.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the workers at Harmony Memory Care in Morgantown and Martinsburg, and to the workers and Chaplain at Hospice Residence Center for their kindness and care.
