Friends of the Cheat (FOC) will host its State of the Watershed event from 6-8 p.m. Oct. 26 at the new 123 Pleasant Street Co-op Venue, 131 Pleasant St., Morgantown.
The evening begins a year of special events in celebration of FOC’s 30th anniversary in 2024.
The State of the Watershed event is an opportunity for community members to explore Friends of the Cheat’s mission and goals, as well as the multiple programs and projects that FOC manages.
Attendees will learn about FOC’s ongoing acid mine drainage (AMD) remediation work, new Aquatic Organism Passage projects, updates on sensitive species monitoring and outreach opportunities.
Recreational enthusiasts can learn about local whitewater paddling, flatwater paddling on the Upper Cheat River Water Trail and the latest updates on the Cheat River Rail Trail project.
Learn how to get involved with the organization, as well as the perks of becoming a sustaining member or Cheat River Festival sponsor.
Whether you are new to the area or multi-generation natives, anyone with an interest in the Cheat River is encouraged to attend.
Enjoy live music by Andy Tuck and light refreshments provided by FOC staff and board members. The event is free, but bring your wallet — drinks will be available for purchase at the upper bar in 123 Pleasant Street.
