Mary Boyles

Mary Frances Boyles, 89, of Morgantown, passed away Sunday, Oct. 15, 2023, at the home she shared with her beloved sister, Charmane Todd, and nephew, Marvin Holmes, who were also her devoted caregivers.

She was born Sept. 2, 1934, in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Henry and Louverna Johnson.

Mary is survived by her children, Joe Boyles and wife Yevette, Daniel Boyles and wife Janet, Janet Brobst and husband Donald, Bonnie Heaster and husband Jeff, and Karen Boyles. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Boyles; granddaughters, Jonie Brobst and Billie Jo Heaster; and her siblings, Gilbert, Willard, Phillip, Dorothy, Velma and Ernestine Johnson; as well as Gladys Grimes, Edith Daigle, and Audrey King.

Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt who cared deeply about her family and friends. She was a long-time member of the Clinton District Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary where her husband served as fire chief for many years. She enjoyed helping with the country music shows hosted by the Fire Department and was very famous for her delicious meringue pies she provided for such events. Her favorite activity in recent years was playing Bingo at the Westover Senior Center with her friends.

The family would like to thank Amedisys Hospice for their exceptional care, especially nurses Carla and Robin who were Mary’s angels in disguise. Their loving kindness meant so much to her.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Hastings Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 18, and again from 10 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19, until the time of the service at 11 a.m. with Rev. Tonya Orr officiating. Mary will be laid to rest with her husband at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Taylor County.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Westside Senior Center, 500 DuPont Road, Westover, WV 26501.

Hastings Funeral Home has been entrusted with arrangements.
