Thomas Manier, 76 of Kingwood, passed away as a result of pancreatic cancer, on Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2023, at his home at the Preston Country Club.
Tom was born Nov. 3, 1946, in Kingwood, the only child of the late Bud and Hazel Manier.
Tom was a 1965 graduate of Kingwood High School, where he was an exceptional athlete and rumor has it, a pretty good dancer.
Tom lived for the hunting seasons and especially treasured the times he was able to hunt with his son. Along with his best friends and his father, Tom traveled all over North America where he hunted big game and downed a world record moose.
Tom had a love-hate relationship with golf. His family has lost count of how many times he’s thrown a club after a bad swing. Regardless, in nice weather, he looked for any chance to play. His television has been scarred for life from the foul language heard during every Mountaineers and Steelers game, which Tom faithfully watched at every opportunity.
He was a lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles (2391) where he loved to meet his friends for his daily gossip session.
Tom is survived by his wife of 20 years, Tracy Lantz Manier; two daughters, Kerry Manier Gnik (Mark) and Beth Manier Bower (John); son, Pete Manier (Stephanie); four stepdaughters, Katelyn Fortney (Bryant), Dawnielle Stonebraker (Zach Thorn), Shyla Stonebraker, Carley Stonebraker (Eric Bolyard); three grandchildren, Gavin, Sydney, and Paige; four step-grandchildren, Thomas, Ethan, Lane (George), Breanna (Little Bucky); his beloved dog, Hershey, and his cat, Pixie Bell Marie.
The Field Funeral Home is honored to assist Tom’s family at this time. Tom was adamant that he wanted no service or visitation. He requested to be cremated with specific instructions to his wife and son on where to spread his ashes.
The family wishes to thank the staff from Amedisys for the hospice services they provided Tom in the last weeks of his life.
