Nancy L. Atwell, 76, of Morgantown, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, at her residence. She was born July 16, 1947, in Wheeling, the daughter of the late Adolph and Ruth (Riddle) Landahl.
Nancy was a 1965 graduate of Wheeling High School, and went on to earn her nursing degree at Ohio Valley Regional Hospital School of Nursing. She was employed at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital as a nurse for 40 years.
Nancy is survived by her stepchildren, William Albert Atwell, III and wife Dr. Farnaz Safi; Amy Atwell Woods and husband Kevin; grandchildren, Chloe Atwell, Ross Woods, and Nathan Woods; and extended family member, William A. Custer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Albert Atwell, Jr.
Nancy was a humble and caring soul. Her passing came too quickly. For those who knew and loved her, she will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be held at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 3-6 p.m., on Sunday, Oct. 8, and again at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1 Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, from 9:30 a.m. on Monday Oct. 9, until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m., with Msgr. Anthony Cincinnati, STD as celebrant. Interment will take place at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
