Learn to Curl: Next lesson set for Oct. 14

The Morgantown Curling Club 2023-24 ice season is off to a slow start, with two canceled Learn to Curl dates due to low registration.

The club hopes to get a few more folks signed up for its next Learn to Curl class, set for 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Oct. 14 at the BOPARC Ice Rink, 1001 Mississippi Ave., in Morgantown.

Curling classes are run by experienced members of the club and are a great introduction to the sport. No prior experience is required. Learn to Curl sessions are designed for the beginner to understand all aspects of the game. Stone delivery, sweeping, game rules and scoring are all taught in these sessions.

Equipment is provided for the class, just bring a pair of sneakers with clean soles, loose clothing (e.g. track pants), a jacket or sweater and possibly some gloves. The temperature in the rink is about 40 degrees and layers are recommended. Each session is one and a half hours long, on the ice. Sessions are limited to 30 people.

Learn to Curl classes are $50 (plus a $3 electronic processing fee).
