The Terra Alta Civic Club held its monthly September meeting and installation of officers. The Club’s new 2023-24 officers are: co-presidents, Pat Greaser and Norleen Hoadley; co-vice presidents, Jenni Mills and Charlotte Wiles; treasurer, Teddi Cox; recording secretary, Carolyn Cosner; corresponding secretary, Mary Jo Gregg; historian, Marilyn Metheny.
The club will continue to be busy with many initiatives.
It held an appreciation Back-2-School luncheon at the Terra Alta East Preston school on Aug. 25 for teachers and school staff.
Upcoming, the Eldest Lady and Gentlemen dinner will be Oct. 14 at Alpine Lake Resort for Portland District residents who will be 80 years old in 2023. Club members will connect with district residents for their participation. If you have not heard from the club, please contact any Civic Club member to reserve. Reservations must be made by Oct. 7 as it will not be able to accommodate walk- ins.
As a fundraising initiative, club members will sell raffle tickets for a $500 cash prize at Saturday’s Oktoberfest at Alpine Lake, and during the annual Buckwheat Festival in Kingwood. Reach out to a member to get your raffle tickets.
The Civic Club of Terra Alta welcomes new members. All that is required is a desire to meet new people and contribute to the greater community by volunteering your time and talent. The general meetings are scheduled April through December. Open to all ages and genders.
The next meeting is Oct. 9.
