Members of the Monongalia County Quick Response Team (QRT) and volunteers were kept busy handing out naloxone and fentanyl test strips on Thursday as part of the QRT’s fifth Save a Life Day.
As of 4 p.m., the number of naloxone kits distributed surpassed those from last year: 1,104 two-dose kits had been given out, with two hours to go.
That’s compared to 1,046 kits given out altogether at the September 2022 event.
Motorists honked their support as they passed by several of the 10 locations, including at the Westover McDonald’s and the WVU Mountainlair.
Thursday marked the first time with locations in all 13 of the Appalachian states as designated by the Appalachian Regional Commission.
