Donald Ray Savage, Jr., a passionate and faith-filled man, passed away peacefully on Sept. 12, 2023, in his hometown of Morgantown after a courageous battle with cancer.
Donald was a proud and dedicated serviceman, serving in the Army Reserves for 20 years before retiring as a Command Sergeant Major. Later in life, Donald found fulfillment as a self-employed carpenter and licensed contractor, building five homes for his own family members. His commitment to service extended into his professional life, where he held esteemed positions as the Executive Officer of HRDE and Vice President of HRDF. He was particularly proud of his company’s efforts to provide housing for those less fortunate.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Donald was a man of many interests. He was a patient and skilled builder, a talent that extended to his love for building and playing guitars. A devoted grandfather, he cherished time spent with his grandchildren. He found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as fishing, hunting, and collecting tools. Donald’s faith was also a cornerstone of his life. He was an active member of HOPE Church, where his love for the Lord shone brightly. Donald’s life was a testament to his passion, faith, and handy skills.
