Wilbur “George” Duckworth, 80, of Masontown, passed away Sunday, Sept. 10, 2023, at his home. He was born July 7, 1942, in Oakland, Md., a son of the late Joseph and Lillian (Tasker) Duckworth.
George was a veteran having served in the U.S. Army. He was employed at Walmart in Grafton for 20 year.
He is survived by his son, George Joseph “Joey” Duckworth, of Kingwood; a daughter, Sherry Watkins and husband Rodney, of Kingwood; three grandchildren, Shyann Duckworth, Dustin Duckworth, and Katelynn Watkins; one sister, Myrtle Phillips and husband Terry, of Rowlesburg; two brothers, Arthur Duckworth, and Claude Duckworth and wife Reba, all of Tennessee; several nieces and nephews; his former wife, Sharon Lansberry, and her children Cody and Bryan Adams, to whom he was a father figure.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by four brothers, Paul, Buddy, Gary and Delbert Duckworth; and one sister, Lillian Adams.
Friends may call at Kingwood Funeral Home, 295 S. Pike Street, Kingwood, from 3-7p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 13. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, Sept. 14, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home. Rev. Ray Frankhouser officiating. Interment at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Kingwood.
Full military graveside rites will be accorded by the honor details of the VFWs and Vietnam Veterans of Preston County and the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
