Richard Buck

Richard Keith “Chip” Buck passed away suddenly, Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2023, at the family lake house doing what he loved. Chip was born July 22, 1961, in Fort Worth, Texas, a son of Sally McIlwain Buck of Pa., and the late Dr. Keith K. Buck.

Chip realized at a young age that music was his passion and loved teaching and fostering the love of music to his students. Chip served 35 years as a band director in Monongalia County, spending most of the time at Westwood Middle school. Chip started the Panhandler Steel drum band at Westwood, which was the first middle school steel drum band in West Virginia and was well-known for the band’s annual pig roast.

Chip was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and was the drummer for the bands Queen City Funk & Soul and Steel Groovin’.

Chip led an active life and enjoyed going out on the lake, snow skiing, playing golf and being outside cutting grass. Chip enjoyed spending time with his loving wife, children, and grandchildren. His greatest love was spending time with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.

In addition to his mother, Chip is survived by his wife of 35 years, Stephanie Lojewski Buck; two sons, Zachary Buck (Olesya) and Matthew Buck (Elizabeth) all of Morgantown; one daughter, Emily Buck James (Adam) of Morgantown; two sisters, Beth Satterfield (Dave) of Morgantown. and Holly Visnesky (John) of Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Levi Lyndon Buck and Luke Richard James; sister-in-law, Nanette Gaspar (Mike) of Morgantown; and brother-in-law John Lojewski (Annette) of Morgantown; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, Chip was preceded in death by his father- and mother-in-law, John and Shirley Lojewski.
