Musick: Staff deserve high marks after recent state monitoring

MORGANTOWN — Monongalia County Assessor Mark Musick told The Monongalia County Commission that he wanted to take a moment to brag following recent state monitoring of the assessor’s mapping and transfers procedures.

“Mon County is so much further ahead and the information that is received from here is very trustworthy,” Musick said, paraphrasing the feedback provided during a post-monitoring exit interview. “We passed every category.”

Musick praised the work of supervisors John Ferguson and Kellie Green as well as a number of their office staff members.

“Also, a big shout out to Kellie and the ladies in the transfer department, that our transfer notes are very well done — just more advanced,” he said. “But it’s not just [Green and Ferguson]. It’s the staff working with them. All those folks need to get some high marks for a job well-done.”

Monongalia Couty Commissioner Jeff Arnett said his day job gives him ample opportunity to see the caliber of work being done by the assessor’s office.

“For someone who uses the database and the mapping and the transfer notes almost on a daily basis, not just in this county, but surrounding counties, I can tell you Mon County has so much more information,” he said. “When you’re trying to piece together a puzzle for a 100-year title, it’s invaluable to have those insights and notes.”
