Marcia Swoger

Marcia Chandler Swoger of Woodstock, Ga., (formerly of Morgantown) passed away on Aug. 21, 2023, at her home following a long battle with Lupus.
She was born July 26, 1951, in Elkins, the daughter of the late James Hartsel and Carrie Marguerite Arnold Chandler.
She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Tim Swoger; her daughter, Carrie Smith of Woodstock, Ga.; son, Joshua Swoger of Kennesaw, Ga.; grandchildren, Kinson and Evelyn Smith; brothers, Tom Chandler of Masontown; Jerry (Olive) Chandler of Marietta, Ga.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Marcia was proceeded in death by brothers, William Chandler, John Chandler, Robert Chandler, James Chandler, and Hartsel Chandler; sisters, Lois Gum, and Peggy Bracken. Her sister, Carol Sue Chandler, also passed away on Aug. 21.
Marcia graduated from Valley High School in Masontown, and from West Virginia Business School in Morgantown. She worked for 16 years at the Mountainair Student Union at West Virginia University, rising to the position of Assistant Director before moving to Atlanta, Ga. During her time in Georgia, she worked as a consultant, and spent the last 25 years of her career as a Leadership, Training and Management Consultant.
Marcia was happiest when her family was around her table at her home.
A memorial service will be held at Lakeside Funeral Home in Woodstock, Ga., on Saturday, Sept. 2, with visitation starting at 2 p.m. followed by a service at 4 p.m. with the Reverend Kim Long officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Georgia Chapter of the Lupus Foundation of America, or the Atlanta Community Food Bank.
