A Monongalia County Deputy is recovering after being attacked by a dog while on duty late Wednesday afternoon.
According to Monongalia County Sheriff Perry Palmer, Deputy Hall was attempting to serve civil papers at a residence on Blue Goose Road in Blacksville when he was attacked by a dog in the area.
Palmer said Hall suffered a gash on his hand that required stitches but is now resting at home. Palmer was unable to provide additional information on the details of the attack at this time.
County dog wardens were able to locate and pick up the dog believed to be responsible for the bite and currently have the animal in quarantine at the Mon County Canine Adoption Center.
The Dominion Post reached out to the adoption center to see what the procedure is following a dog bite incident, but did not hear back by press time.
Some concern has arisen following the incident after a local Facebook group which follows emergency scanner traffic reported an ambulance had been called for the deputy, but was then redirected to another emergency. A second ambulance was said to have been sent out, but allegedly was 30 to 40 minutes away.
Fire department personnel on scene were said to have eventually transported Hall themselves to meet an ambulance in Cassville where he was transferred to their care.
Mon EMS Director Forest Weyen said the agency is looking into the incident.
