Animal Friends of North Central West Virginia, a Morgantown-based nonprofit, will hold its annual Dog Day in the Pool from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Sunday at Marilla Pool in Sabraton.
In its 20th year, this event is a favorite for dog lovers in Morgantown as well as neighboring cities.
Dog Day in the Pool offers a unique opportunity for dogs to take a splash in the public pool before it’s drained for the season. This family-friendly event is packed with games and goodies, including:
- A rubber-duck pond
- Swimming and diving contests
- Pet tricks
- Raffles and door prizes
- Concessions, including canine ice cream
To keep the event safe for all, Animal Friends asks that flex leads and prong collars not be used and that all dogs be on a leash and supervised by an adult at all times.
Animal Friends is a rescue organization serving north-central West Virginia since 2001. The organization takes in animals from shelters and pounds throughout the Morgantown area and beyond, providing them with food, shelter, vet care and affection until they find their forever homes through a rigorous adoption process.
So far in 2023, Animal Friends has rescued over 200 animals in need.
Animal Friends is a 501c3 nonprofit registered in the state of West Virginia since 2001. The organization receives support through grants, donations, membership dues, volunteer services and revenue from the Animal Friends Thrift Shoppe.
