Eleanor Brewer

Eleanor Marie (Simeral) Brewer, 87 Independence, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023, at home with family by her side. She was born on Sept. 6, 1935, in Uffington, daughter of the late William M. and Evelyn Cecil (Ball) Simeral. Eleanor was a lifelong resident of Gladesville. She graduated from Newburg High School, Class of 1952, with perfect attendance through all of her school years. She enjoyed baking, cooking, and taught cake decorating at Preston County Vocational School. Eleanor was an Eastern Star Member for over fifty-four years of the Newburg Chapter #143, Past Matron, also served as Worthy Grand Matron 1995-96 for the Grand Chapter of West Virginia and served as an instructor and deputy instructor for many years. She was a former member of the Gordon United Methodist Church. Eleanor is survived by one son, Roger Lee Brewer and wife, Loretta, of Gladesville; one daughter, Sandra Sue Wolfe and husband, Kevin, of Gladesville; five grandchildren, Kelley Wolfe Barto, of Gladesville, who spent much time with her grandparents; Patrick Wolfe and Tabitha, of Gladesville; Summer Fearer and Harold, of Hazelton; Chloe Warren, of Morgantown; Alton Brewer and Billie Jo, of Chester; 11 great-grandchildren, Felicia Barto, Gabrielle Ganks, Reno Ross, Alexis Riley and Gracie Mae Barto, Gage Barto, Blayne Fearer, Ethan Fearer, Alexander Warren, Colton Wolfe and Asa Lee Brewer; one special niece, Patty Hoffman and Rick, of Calif.; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Eleanor is preceded in death by her husband, Donald Lee Brewer in 2021; one great-granddaughter, Aubree Warren; one brother, James and Ellen Simeral; two sisters-in-law, Eleanor G. and Jim Hundley, Evelyn Kay Brewer, two brothers-in-law, Cecil and Leora Brewer, Byron Ervin Sr. Family and friends will be received at the Bolyard Funeral Home, 79 Morgantown Ave. Newburg, from
3-7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, where an Eastern Star Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. by the Newburg Chapter 143 Order of the Eastern Star and Thursday, Aug. 17, from 10 a.m. until time of service at noon with Rev. Marcy A Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at the Gladesville Cemetery. Bolyard Funeral Home is honored to serve the Brewer family.
