Judy Kaye Banks, a loving wife, mother, and nanny, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2023, at her home. She was born on October 20, 1946, in Morgantown, a daughter of the late Peter and Edna Hooton Bennett.
Judy is survived by her beloved husband of 57 years, Denzil R. Banks, and their devoted daughter, Lisa Banks Mitchell, and her husband, William, of Morgantown. She was the proud grandmother to William Colin Mitchell and his wife, Cassandra, Mikaela Mitchell, Madison Mitchell, and Marissa Mitchell. Judy was also a cherished aunt to numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul Bennett, Tommy Bennett, Lloyd Bennett; and her sisters Doris Leach, Shirley Johnson, and Betty Stone.
Judy dedicated many years of her life as a Lab Technician at Mylan Pharmaceuticals, where she was respected for her diligence and commitment. Her work ethic was only surpassed by her love for her family and her passion for life.
Judy enjoyed line dancing, a hobby that brought her immense joy and countless friendships. She was a constant presence at her grandchildren’s school events, always cheering them on with a proud smile and encouraging words.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff of Morgantown Hospice for the loving care they provided to Judy.
Family and friends are invited to gather at Fred L. Jenkins Funeral Home from 11 a.m. on Friday, July 28, until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Pastor Rich Schimansky officiating. Judy will be laid to rest at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, following the funeral service.
