Timothy Michael “Curley” Dixon Sr.,

Timothy Michael “Curley” Dixon Sr., 55, of Morgantown, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday, July 19, 2023.

Born May 6, 1968, in Pittsburgh, Pa., Curly was son of the late Lee Henry and Lorraine Stone Dixon.

Curley is survived by his wife of 21 years and companion 10 years before that, Amy Roberts-Dixon; his three children, Timothy Michael “Lil Curl” Dixon Jr., Tevin Allen Dixon and Victoria Lorraine Dixon; his granddaughter, Nylah Lynn Dixon; six siblings, Stanley Lee Dixon (spouse Judith — deceased), Jo Yvonne Dixon Morrow and spouse Wes, David “Stoney” Dixon, Marjorie Ann Dixon Smith (spouse Jimmy — deceased), Lee Eugene Dixon and spouse Laura, and Kimberly Rae Dixon Nichols and spouse Jaysun; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, cousins and many cherished friends.

Curley and his sister Kim attended school from kindergarten until their graduation together from University High School in 1986. He went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree from West Virginia University in athletic coaching education.

Curley was a great athlete who excelled in both football and basketball, but was a general sports fanatic. He was a huge fan of the Duke Blue Devils and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He loved going to Steelers games with his best friend Kevin Marshall, and going golfing with his good friend Benjie Grimm.

Curley was a dedicated father, and very cherished uncle to his nieces and nephews — especially his niece Olivia “Bird” Naugle, who held a very special place in his heart.

Curley was an all-around neighborhood hero who spent countless hours touching the lives of not only his children, but other children through his efforts in coaching. He coached both basketball and football for Westwood Middle School and the West Side Basketball League. He also enjoyed his 13 years working as a customer liason with Enterprise Car Rental.

Friends may join the family to honor Curley’s life and legacy at Kingdom: A Community Church,
540 Fairmont Road, Westover, Tuesday, July 25, from 2 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7 p.m., officiated by Pastor Kevin Cain. Following the funeral service, and at the request of the family, Curley will be cremated.

At the request of the family, casual or Pittsburgh Steelers attire is requested. Just come as you are to support the family and remember this wonderful man.

In lieu of flowers, Curley’s family has requested donations be made directly to the funeral home to help offset his final expenses. No gift is too small, and everything is greatly appreciated.
