Phyllis Glowacky

Phyllis Iona Glowacky, 95, of Morgantown, passed away on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Manchin Assisted Living in Bridgeport.

She was born April 4, 1928, in Springfield, Mass., daughter of the late Edward Dominic and Beatrice (McKahan) Montagna.

Phyllis worked as an underwriter and retired from Amerisure Insurance Company and was a member of St. Mary Byzantine Catholic Church of Morgantown.

She loved quilting, making crafts and sewing in her spare time.

Phyllis was known by both family and friends as a very strong-willed and independent person who loved her family dearly.

Left to cherish her memories are her two children, Michael E. Glowacky (Lena), Theresa Uscilla (Victor); grandchildren, Michael N. Glowacky (Kayla), Robert E.Glowacky (Megan), Katie H. Glowacky, Victor J. Uscilla (Caroline) and Alexandra Plourd (Christian); great-grandchildren, Michael and Mila Glowacky, Owen and Audrey Plourd, Aisling, Keegan and Decker Uscilla; one brother, Elery Montagna; along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis is preceded in death by her husband, Michael Glowacky, and sisters, Norma and Venetta.

Friends and family will be received at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, July 20. Visitation will continue at St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church, 2115 Listravia Ave. from 10 a.m. on Friday, July 21, until the time of the service at 11 a.m. with Fr. James Fraser as celebrant. She will be then laid to rest alongside her husband at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens.
