Maverick “Mav” Owen Bowyer

Our beloved Maverick was taken too soon on Saturday, July 8, 2023, due to a life-long battle with epilepsy. Mav was the ray of sunshine for so many, and his positivity was contagious and uplifting. He was true to himself, genuine, brave and courageous. He had a passion for music, was trained to play the viola, was self-taught on the keyboard, and had a beautiful singing voice. Maverick had been attending West Virginia University as a Bachelor of Arts student. Maverick, an only child, leaves behind and is deeply missed and loved by his mother, Tammy Fennessy, his father, John Bowyer, and his stepdad, Robert Fennessy. His grandparents adored him and his passion for living and enjoying his life; Tony and Sylvia Todisco, Richard and Faith Bowyer, and Tom and Nancy Travers. Maverick is forever in the thoughts of many aunts, great-aunts, uncles, and great-uncles, including, but not limited to, Uncle David Bowyer, Uncle Mark Bowyer, Aunt Robin and Uncle Dave Londino, Great-Aunt Kay Houston, Great-Aunt Jeannie Gerry, Great-Aunt Joyce Brown and Great-Uncle Jim Horton, Great-Aunt Patty Shorrock, Great-Uncle Bill Todisco, Great-Aunt Barbara Rosamilia, and Great-Aunt Fran Autenrieth, and their respective families. His spirit will live in the memories of his many cousins, most notably Holly Aliveto, who also resides in Morgantown. Maverick will also be remembered by an incredible amount of amazing and supportive friends that filled his life with joy and fulfillment. We will all miss Maverick’s contagious smile, sense of humor, and positivity. We’ll love you forever, Maverick, and you will find everlasting peace and a warm embrace in heaven. On Thursday, July 20, a public visitation will open at 2:30 p.m. and last until 6 p.m. The memorial service will be conducted by Rev. Richard Bowyer (Mav’s grandfather) at 6 p.m., followed by a gathering to celebrate Maverick’s life, which will last until 9 p.m. All events will be held at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, located at 4201 Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh, Pa. 15227, on Thursday July 20, from 2:30-9 p.m. Donations in Maverick’s memory can be made to the Epilepsy Foundation at https://www.epilepsy.com or via 1.800.213.5821 or The Trevor Project at https://www.thetrevorproject.org/.
