Fern Luttrell

Fern Gosser Luttrell of Morgantown passed away on September 22, 2022. She was born in Russell Springs, Ky., on September 25, 1933. She had two brothers and one sister. Her brother, Billy Gosser, passed away before her. She is survived by her brother, Donnie Gosser, and her sister Ruth Ipe. She was married to Larry Luttrell and had two children. Her daughter, Michele Daniell, passed away before her. She is survived by her son, Charlie Luttrell. She is also survived by her grandsons, Benjamin Daniell and Joshua Daniell.

Fern spent her life taking care of her family, her friends, her congregation and her community. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church and the West Virginia Baptist Women’s Convention. She also donated her time and talents generously to the Girl Scouts, the Morgantown Service League, and the United Way.

Fern was the definition of an extrovert and loved any excuse to spend time with people. She loved to cook and made sure the family was together for a social sit down dinner every night. She gathered the neighborhood to press cider and have barbeques. She threw legendary parties that always included a wide variety of interesting people and often had silly themes. She seemed to know every single person in Morgantown and always made the time to stop, smile and chat with all of them.

Fern and Larry’s lives will be celebrated at a combined memorial service to be held at the Foundry Church on High Street 1 p.m. on August 12.
