She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Neva Ruth “Noggie” Walker; her cousin, Mary Catherine Walker, who was raised as a sister; and her brother, Robert Walker and his wife Minnie.

Ruby was a 1942 graduate of Clay-Battelle High School. During the great depression, she and her family lived in Hutchinson, Kan., where her father worked in the oil fields.

After graduation, Ruby worked for her Uncle Sam Henderson in his grocery store in Osage with her sister, Neva. Ruby retired from Westinghouse, North American Phillips after
42 years of service. She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Jakes Run Assembly of God where she served as the church board secretary for over 30 years and loved singing in the choir. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved music. Every Saturday she took Nancy and Joyce to accordion lessons at Morgan’s Music Shop. Ruby loved to read until her eyesight failed her. She walked every day and gardened and took care of the lawn. Ruby was the best aunt you could ever have. She encouraged music, education, and a relationship with God and the importance of family and family history. Ruby and Neva were both stylist women. They were always wearing the nicest clothes, shoes, and accessories. She loved her annual shopping trips to downtown Pittsburgh with her Aunt Lois. She carried on her shopping tradition with her nieces and great niece Emily. Ruby loved family vacations to Willow Valley, Lancaster, Pa., and Ocean City, N.J., with her whole family. Ruby was truly an extraordinary woman.
