Danny Lee Smith, 72, of Morgantown, passed away July 9, 2023, surrounded by his family. For the past 9 years Danny had been living in Sullivan, Ohio, with his wife and family.
Danny was a follower of Jesus Christ who loved to laugh and make others laugh, being outside, hunting, fishing, and being with his family and friends. He worked as a coal miner for 32 years but was forced to give up the career he loved due to his health conditions.
Danny is survived by his wife of 50 years, Pamela; daughters, Debbie (nee Smith) (Wade) Lamp, Danielle (nee Smith) Layman; family pet and companion, Bobo; sisters, Linda (Rick) Flowers, Patty (Larry) Anderson; brother, Willie Smith; grandsons, Christopher (Ashley) Lamp, Tristan (Kennedy) Lamp, Bryce Layman; granddaughter, Kayla Korzun; great-grandchildren, Alaynna Lamp, Carter Lamp, Remie Lamp, Bentley Lamp, Carolina Steele, Lennon Steele, Harlyn Schrout; and many nephews and nieces. Danny was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend to everyone he has come in touch with.
Danny was preceded in death by his mother, Betty (nee Dewitt) Smith, Father, James Smith; sister, Sharon (nee Smith) Tennant; brother, Edward Smith; mother-in-law, Rosella (nee Livingood) Stevens; father-in-law, Robert Stevens; and son-in-law, Robert “Robbie” Layman.
