Margaret Mary “Marge” (Szapanos) Albertazzie, 92, of Morgantown passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at Mon Health Medical Center.
She was born May 6, 1931, in Leckrone, Pa., to the late Joseph and Mary (Bordash) Szapanos.
Marge, as she was known, was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. She was a member of the funeral Choir and helped to provide salads for the funeral luncheons.
She was a 1949 graduate of UHS and was active as a cheerleader and a majorette. She was a member of CDA and held life memberships in the auxiliaries of MCL, the VFW and American Legion. She loved watching the Mountaineers, Pirates, and Steelers. She worked as a bookkeeper at several businesses and retired from Bells Wholesale Grocery, Inc.
Marge is survived by a son, William Paul Sviridenko; a sister-in-law, Marjorie Alberta Sapanos; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband and the father of her children, Paul Sviridenko; second husband, Earl L. Albertazzie, Sr.; daughter, Debra Kay Sviridenko; four brothers, Joseph and his wife, Lucille, John, Louis, and Billy; sister, Emily DeVincent, and her husband, Frank DeVincent; and nephew, James Sapanos.
According to her wishes, cremation services will be provided by Hastings Funeral Home, Omega Crematory.
Friends and family will be received at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 1 Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, from 10 a.m. on Friday, July 7, until the time of Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. with Monsignor Anthony Cincinnati as celebrant. Inurnment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
