Ellen Rowan

Pastor Ellen Elaine Rowan, 85, of Morgantown, went to be with her Lord, Wednesday June 7, 2023, in Morgantown. She was born in Masontown, April 21, 1938, a daughter of the late Lincoln and Ruth (Hardman) Rowan.

Always a preacher, she worked at a church in Morgantown while attending WVU. In seminary school in Kansas City she had a church there. Doing doctorate studies at Berkeley in California she had a church at Fremont, then went to Gridley, Calif., then in the Bay area a few years, and finally to Trinity United Methodist Church in Chico, Calif.

She spent time volunteering in Calcutta doing mission work with Mother Teresa and in Chile helping at a rural agriculture school.

Surviving are; brother, Allen Rowan and wife Barbara, their daughter, Rachel Chamberlain and her sons, Cooper and Maddox; two sisters, Phyllis Bostic and husband Jerry and their four children, Randy and wife Jennifer, Caleb, Ronnie and wife Marlene, and daughter Abby, daughter, Karen Ramesey and husband Bryan, and their three children, Rusty, Nicholas, and Brook; Linda Henderson and husband Donald, and son, Bryan Day and wife Lisa, and their son Cody.

In addition to her parents Ellen was preceded by three nephews, Scott Rowan, Sam Rowan, and David Day; one niece, Rebecca Bostic.

Friends will be Received at the Wesley United Methodist Church in Kingwood 11 a.m. and Funeral Services will start at noon on Thursday, June 15, with Pastors Jennie Williams and Jonathan Nettles officiating. Inurnment at St. Agnes Columbarium in Shepherdstown will be at a later date.
