KINGWOOD — If you are looking for a yummy way to start your day, Sugar Plum’s Bakery has you covered.
The bakery, at 104 East Main St., Suite 2, offers a variety of items to go with your morning coffee — homemade cinnamon rolls, cream horns and a variety of other sweet treats.
Owners Carrie Plum and Cecilia Liston keep the shop displays filled with homemade macarons, scones, cream puffs, cookies, muffins and other items, such as biscotti, doughnuts and turnovers.
If sweets for breakfast isn’t your cup of tea, they also have breakfast items like homemade sausage and bacon quiche, pancake sausage muffins, bagels, scrambled egg cups (scrambled eggs in puff pastry), and French toast muffins.
For lunch they have sandwiches and salads. On Tuesdays, there are homemade pretzels. Wednesday is soup day. Thursday you’ll find bagels, and on Fridays you can grab a doughnut — all made from scratch.
“We have both cold brew and hot coffee to go, bottled sweet and unsweetened tea, Pepsi, diet Pepsi and Mountain Dew,” Liston said.
Plum said she and Liston formed a partnership, making it easier to get the shop up and running. The two met at the farmers market and decided to go into business together.
“We both do our own thing and we knew individually we couldn’t afford to start a business,” Plum said. “We met at a farmers market and traded pepperoni rolls for macarons and it went from there.”
“We opened on Aug. 15,” Liston said. “We had a lot off people in the community asking us to start a bakery.”
“We buy everything we can locally,” Plum said. “We try to put back in the county.”
She said she and Liston also takes orders for birthday cakes and other special occasions.
Hours are 6 a.m.- 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The bakery is closed Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
