Betty Lee Snyder Hall, a life-long resident of Morgantown, passed from this life on May 17, 2023, at the age of 100. Born Sept. 24, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Harry Snyder and Ruth Heflin Snyder.
She was raised by her grandparents, Elmer E. Snyder and Sarah Frances Harrison Snyder.
Lee, as she was known by friends, was educated in the local schools and received her Bachelor of Arts degree from WVU. She married Donald B. Hall in 1944 while he was serving in the Army Air Corps. She contributed to the war effort by working at Western Electric in Chicago and the Army Air Corps Base in Sebring, Fla. After the war, she and Don returned to Morgantown and she became a Teaching Fellow in the Speech Department at WVU. She pursued post graduate studies at Northwestern University and WVU and she received her master’s degree in 1955. She ended up teaching in the Speech Communications Department at WVU for 29 years until her retirement in 1983 as an assistant professor. During her career, she frequently taught public speaking and interpersonal communication to outside groups. Those groups included nursing classes, Extension Homemakers Club and Department of Natural Resources law enforcement officers.
Lee was a member of Morgantown Service League and she served on the board at Scott’s Run Settlement House. She has been an active member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Morgantown since 1931. Her faith was a very important part of her life. An avid reader, she was a member of the Delphian Book Club. She enjoyed cooking and loved to entertain family and friends with her outstanding meals. She was a very devoted and loving wife and mother. Her grace and kindness will be forever remembered by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 66 years, Don. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Hall Eacho (Harrison) of Norfolk, Va., and her son Doug Hall (Dianne) of Pittsburgh, Pa.
The family will receive friends at Hastings Funeral Home, 153 Spruce St., Morgantown, from 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, until the time of the funeral service at noon. Interment will follow at East Oak Grove Cemetery.
