Road Captains (CPT) took off Thursday from American Legion Mountaineer Post 174 in Dellslow for the West Virginia American Legion Riders 2023 Charities Run benefiting Boy’s and Girl’s State.
CPT will lead a group of 50 or more motorcycle riders with road guards and support vehicles for the fundraising ride through the state. Participants may ride motorcycles, trikes, or other vehicles.
The money raised will help attendees offset a portion of their tuition. These programs are held each year by the American Legion for high school seniors. The boys will be at Jackson’s Mill while the girls will be at the Davis & Elkins College campus. Both programs will be from June 11-June 17. The students hold government positions at the state level as well as National Guard, police, fire and newspaper/reporter roles. The students run the government with the assistance of adult mentors/chaperones.
The West Virginia American Legion Riders 2023 Charities Run will be on the road through Sunday.
Thursday’s route took riders from Morgantown to Seneca Rocks.
Today, riders will leave Seneca Rocks at 9 a.m. and travel to Bluefield.
On Saturday, they will move on to Huntington and then finish in Wheeling on Sunday.
To donate to this fundraiser, send checks to American Legion Department of West Virginia, P.O. Box 3191, Charleston, WV 25332.
Add Riders Charities Run in the memo of the check so the funds can be routed correctly.
