Richard Keener

Richard D. Keener (Rick) of Murrysville, Pa., passed away peacefully in his home on May 14, 2023, at the age of 71. He was born in Morgantown. He was preceded in death by his parents, Page Alexander Keener and Esta June Keener; sister, Tempa Keener Craft: twin brother, Raymond Keener.

Rick was a proud Mountaineer, playing trumpet in the marching band. He was a part of the student leadership for Campus Crusades for Christ and traveled to local tri-state churches on Sundays to share WVU’s student ministry work.

He was a Computer Science major which led him to establish Data Task Corporation (1986) and Lab Task Corporation (1992). He enjoyed his career as a programmer for Pharmaceutical and Environmental laboratories.

Rick was an avid photographer who loved capturing wildlife in action, and, in the earlier years, was proud to photograph his children’s sports activities. Traveling with his family encompassed some of his most cherished memories. Rick put God and family first in everything he did.

He was a loved and devoted husband, father, and grandad who is survived by his wife of
29 years, Julie (Pessall) Keener; son, Jason (Nelly), Eliana, Alyssa, Mikayla and Isabella; daughter, Bethany (DeWolfe), Mason and Hannah; daughter, Rachel, and son, Greg. Siblings; Linda Walker, Rod Carpenter, Jeff Carpenter, Barbara Zuponic, and Rick Carpenter, and beloved nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Rick’s Life will be held at the First United Methodist Church in Murrysville at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 10. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the First United Methodist Church in Murrysville, 3916 Old William Penn Hwy, Murrysville, PA 15668.
